Mama Feels
Alex Steinman
I celebrated my final Mother's Day as a mother of only one dragon. As it ended, I couldn't help but feel all the feelings. I spent today doing my favorite things: visiting with family, watching nugget play, and practicing yoga with some really strong mamas. While I'm so excited to meet the tiny queen inside, I will miss the quiet, only-child moments I have with my sweet #gingerbaby.
As I rose to leave Cooper's room at bedtime, those blue-gray eyes looked up at me. He patted the bed and asked, "Mama, bed?" It struck me that someday he won't want me to snuggle with him anymore. So we read an extra story with tears in my brown eyes, we gave extra kisses with our big juicy lips (one of the only physical traits he inherited from me), and he buried his head in my chest leaving a snail trail of snot on my shirt. This is motherhood. It's heartbreakingly beautiful every single day.
Happy Mother's Day to all the strong mamas out there.
